Drying vs. Evaporation

The M2/2 science class students conducted the experiment to understand the concepts between evaporation and drying process. The students were having confusion why evaporation and drying are two different.
To understand the principles of the two terminologies-evaporation and drying, students created two different activities to see the difference between the two. Evaporation technique was one of their activities and the drying was another one. To conceptualize the activity, they started to measure the amount of water to put into the beaker. Each beaker contains 100 ml of water. One of those was used for evaporation through a boiling process. Another beaker with 100 ml of water was being exposed through a direct sunlight. This was too simple activity but yet fun and helpful for the students to understand the two concepts.

While doing the activity, some of them were already visualized and understand what evaporation and drying is. They were discussing their thoughts and learning at the same time. When the experiment was done, most of them understand the difference between evaporation and drying. Presentation of their finished work was performed by groups and it was well done.

Pig’s Heart Anatomy

It is very difficult to understand the circulatory system if you do not understand the organs involve in it. To understand the circulatory system, one must understand the main organ of it which is the HEART.

The complexity of the heart made the students difficult to understand in theory; however, by this dissection activity, the students were able to see the structure outside and inside of the heart which made them understand easier. The M2/2 students used the heart of the pig as their subject for dissection. Everyone was excited to do the dissection process because this activity was very fresh to them. When you look at them, you can feel their eagerness and excitement to conduct the experiment. Most of them were able to identify its parts and were even able to explain why the circulatory system has a double circulation.

This was an amazing experience for them to see what’s really in the heart not just by photographs but gaining the knowledge based on real hands-on experience.

Simple Distillation

M2/2 Additional Science
Experiment Name: Simple Distillation
All odd and even groups were fused and everyone was excited to perform their task; Simple distillation.
Simple distillation is the process of purifying the liquid by boiling the liquid and condenses the vapor to produce a distillate. In the experiment the M2/2 students used the tap water to produce distilled water. It was difficult at first because they do not understand the process yet. All of them were curious but had the inquisitive look which is essential in conducting the experiment. In the latter part of the experiment, they were able to grasp the concept of a simple distillation.

Their activity today might be very simple but the lessons behind of it triggers to open up their mind to understand how distilled water in the market is being produced.

Reading Support Program 2

M6/3 and M4/3 teamed up to give Reading Support assistance to the new comers of MEP, the M1/2 students.

Using their Core English Reading passages M6/3 and M4/3 will record the daily reading progress of M1/2 for 5 days. At the same time help them in their word difficulties and speed reading difficulties. Another great academic bonding for both the MEP and SEP community.

Back in “Reporting”

Mattayom 2/12 are back in their classroom reporting activity. Odd and Even group adjustment period is finally over and now the MEPians are just starting on its slow-geared pace with this week’s task on classroom reporting about “Transportation In the Past, Present and Future “.

Surprisingly, the calm ambiance suddenly turned into smart exchange of questions during the Q&A. HOT (Higher Order Thinking) Questions is flying everywhere in the classroom atmosphere.
