Peer Teaching 2023 Culmination

Peer Teaching or Peer learning is a teaching strategy that encourages students to pass on their knowledge to one another. Better learning and retention may arise from one student mentoring another in a monitored setting (WGU 2022).

With their juniors (M1/2), M5/3 successfully finished the five-week peer teaching term this semester. We congratulate you both and applaud you both. During this activity, may you have developed strong bonds and learned things from one another.

Who-What-Where Game: Mathayom 2 students surely love to have fun. The room was filled with cheers and screams of excitement as they played the Who-What-Where game. This is a fun collaborative activity to test their knowledge and teamwork.

Make your own Invitation: An assignment given to the Mathayom 2 students after the Festivals and Celebrations Lesson. This is to let the students have an individual experience of how it feels to personalize an invitation for their party. It showed their creativity and served as a review as well.

The Mathayom 6 students shared how they spent or would like to spend their holidays. They crafted their own postcards, and the results were nothing but amazing pieces of artwork.

Science in Action

The Light Microscope
Introduction to science can be a little mind blowing and the aim of this activity is to make the kids interested in science while able to observe small organisms and structures they can’t see with the necked eyes.
The kids were taught about the various parts of a microscope, how to mount a slide on the microscope and to observe different microscopic organisms and structures like, a plant and an animal cell, Hydra, Paramecium, Euglena and Planeria. This awakened their quest to know more about sciences.
Our young scientists were taught to identify structures and organisms under a light microscope and the results were amazingly promising.

Separation of mixtures.
This activity is aimed at teaching the students on how to apply science to solve real life problems in separating different mixtures of substance.
We had a mixture of iron particles, with big grains of ground nut and corn, where we used hand picking to separate the big rains and a magnet to remove the iron particles.
We were also able to sieve flour from a flour and rice mixture and lastly we used filter paper to filter sand from a sand and water mixture.
The students gained lots of insides about different types of mixtures and how to separate them.

Electricity
This activity was meant to teach the students about electric current, the sources of electric current, and its application in real life.
we were able to see the connection of circuits in series and parallel how current is affected by resistance and how a light bulb will react to resistance.
Lastly the kids were able to understand how to use an ammeter and a voltmeter to measure electric current and electric potential difference respectively.
Electricity is an important part in our day to day life and understanding its application is important for our young scientists.

Students apply their knowledge in a “message relay game” in which the class is divided into two groups that form a line and compete to pass the message. The game mechanics begin with the first player on the team running to the teacher, receiving the news, and running back to the team to pass the message. After the relay is complete, the last student comes forward and says the message out loud. The students had a lot of fun playing this game because sometimes they would come out with a funny word or phrase that was not the same as the phrase the teacher gave.

Time Zone and Clock The students learned about time zones. They appreciated the fact that as we travel eastward or westward, the time zone changes. Hence, while it is daytime in Thailand, the other part of the world is in darkness, and vice versa. After the discussion, they had a collaborative game wherein a student from each group would move the arrows of the clock depending on the time mentioned by the teacher. This activity will enhance their quick-thinking ability, teamwork, and listening skills.

Teenage life in Thailand

During the discussion, the students had the chance to compare and contrast how British teenagers use their spare time with the way Thais spend it.

Furthermore, the kids demonstrated their creativity by illustrating some of the regular things that teens in Thailand do. They also wrote a brief statement describing the above sketch.

Sports with a Twist
Mathayom 6 students shared what they are interested in and their hobbies. Most of them mentioned cool sports that they either watch or play. During the discussion, they actively participated in identifying the pictures of not-so-popular sports, and everyone had fun. In addition, the above picture shows the activity where students showcased their incredible skills in drawing and writing as well.

Brush Up Activity 2023

Highlights of “What do MEPians and SEPians say about Brush Up?”

They provide a wide variety of activities, and the personnel was all quite kind, in my opinion. The stock activity one is also a little difficult for me, but it’s okay. Thanks a lot!

Brush-up is an activity that adds relationships. We talk and work together. Made me know how important relationships are.

I first anticipated being bored, but I wasn’t. The lectures are incredibly interesting, and the activities they organize always make us friendly with other classes. This also helps me meet more people.

After participating in today’s brush up event, I believe my team is quite good, if not remarkable at first, but we ultimately won first place, and I’m really pleased of the group.😇😊

My experience with today’s brush-up is as follows: “Ok so they split students into six teams, and I’m in team six. I won’t lie, at first I was very worried because I didn’t know everyone on my team. I think M.3 has four students in each team, and they have many staff who are very humorous. On the day we do many activities, while participating in one, I got to know many seniors and juniors, as well as P.Sunny When a player completes a game and answers properly, the staff will grant a point, which they will then collect and count to see which team has earned the most points. We support one another, but another team has many smart, talented students on their team, such as Earth from M3 who is really smart, and when they count those points, MY TEAM WON FIRST PLACE!! So today, I learned how to work in a team and remembered something.

The purpose of this activity was to engage the students in an interactive and collaborative exercise that would enhance their language skills and critical thinking abilities. By asking them to make notes and guess the names of the TV shows based on the genre depicted in the pictures, the teacher aimed to facilitate the development of their vocabulary, observation, and deduction skills. Moreover, the activity encouraged teamwork as the students worked together within their groups, engaging in discussions and brainstorming sessions. Additionally, the task fostered creativity and imagination as the students analyzed the visual cues to make informed guesses. Overall, the activity promoted active learning, language comprehension, and collaboration among the students. (T. Alex)

Computer Studies

Text alignment in MS Word allows you to control the horizontal positioning of your text. With options like left alignment, right alignment, center alignment, and justified alignment, you can create visually appealing and organized documents. Choosing the right alignment can enhance readability and improve the overall presentation of your content.
In this class the students are applying the text alignment rules in their Documents and getting familiar with this basic Microsoft Word tool.

Identifying and classifying integers.

A particular category of numbers called integers includes the digits zero, as well as positive and negative numbers. We emphasize that the positive and negative signs on integers, as well as learning how to represent the positive and negative integers on the number line, are all things that our M1/2 students are already familiar with.
Having applied all these we can now imagine that for M1/2, classifying and recognizing numbers is simple. (T. Sheethal)
